Designed by Ludwig Oppenheimer, the opulent Clonard Monastery, Belfast, was built in 1897 by the Naughton brothers from Randalstown. Home to the Redemptorist Order (founded in Italy, 1897) the ‘CLONARD’ bibbed apron is inspired by the religious ‘habit’, echoing its minimalistic long clean lines with an emphasis on function.
